Post World of Curunir - the land of Wizards

This is my second big mapping project and very different from the first one (Bretoria). The purpose of this project was to develop versatile and easy way to create realistic looking landscapes. The project enlarged on the way and here is the final results. I love details and I added a lot of small things and areas that had purpose in this world or small story behind it. I could have saved a lot of time by not focusing so much on small details, but I though this one was worth it.

During the process I created also tutorial of how to make the mountains and forest of this kind and etc and the tutorial was well received.

    The WIP thread is here:http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4656
    And the tutorial thread here:http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4405

And if someone would like to have the this map without names etc. just let me know. I hope you like this one...at least I loved creating it.

I decided to post couple of modifications I have done.
The first one has a forest tweaked and the forest looks now a bit isometric. It gives different feeling when looked from close.
The second one is the same land during winter time.

    I hope you like them...

Awesome work! It was great to see it progress, with the tutorial attached to it and all. Good stuff.
Alas, my website features music, not maps. I do have a portfolio of some other things, though.

I like the isometric trees, they really add to it.

Great map Pasis, and a good tutorial. Well done.

I must be addicted to this map as it seems I cannot let go and now I have made some experiments on crumpling paper style. I crumpled only the map and not the ruler or compass on top of it. The crumpling effect is best visible on water and I had a challenge on getting the effect right on a surface with lot of color variation and strong texture. So I’m not totally happy with the result, but it was best I could do.

Not a big fan of the crumpled paper version.
