December 2022 Challenge: Town of Veriscay

Hey!

Been looking for a reason to map a canyon. So, I'll hop in to start things off.

I started today laying the linework foundation.

The idea behind this one, I've been working on a grand overland map for one of my web novels and it has a forest in it with canyon gorges splitting it. So, for THIS map, I'm zooming way in to a part where the roots of the giant trees are piercing the side of that canyon. A town was settled there.

Today, I was playing around with the color scheme alongside the what is inside the canyon.

That scar with magic flowing got me. looking forward to seeing the progress!
I'm also a fan of the huge tree with the roots piercing the rockywalls.

Hehe, that's good. I like a bit of mystery in a map.
Tx, I was doing an overland map and added the touch and it finally inspired this whole concept.

I hope everybody is doing well.

For this iteration, I started adding more buildings. It is a bit of a tricky perspective to draw buildings on, but once I got the hang of it, it started coming together nicely. I am, however, still searching for a proper color scheme for the buildings.

Also added some vines to better start the place, this is going to be more 'junglish' in the end.

Anyway, enjoy the day.

Thanks. Though, I was confused with what on earth fenditure means. In the end, I take it you mean the fissure?

So, I started with giving the place a jungle make over, at least the start of it. Still a lot of small details to add.
