Unfortunately I didn’t see Caenwyr's post on that so thanks for sharing that! You did a very nice job as well, it’s not something I’ve ever attempted but it’s very cool! Well done, and I hope to see some more maps from you soon!
Hi all!
It's been awhile since I have posted here, in fact I haven't done too much mapmaking in recent months (I have still been stalking the forum though ), but finally I want to get back into more maps.
I was inspired by the amazing Caenwyr's recent The Straits of Qalîmbar for this map. I admit, this map is an exact copy of his idea. So after a long break from cartography, lo and behold, I present 'A Slice of a Cliche Fantasy Map'. This was a practice map I started this afternoon, to see if I still draw something that vaguely resembles a map
So let me know what you think! Any comments or criticisms are welcome.
Josiah

A good idea recovered to come up with another good idea! Not bad at all! You should make yourself business cards with this one... and the title would look good as a blog, website or artisan name. In any case, it's very successful!
That's pretty cool! I only wish to see more use of the cross section - like the magma that you show off on the right.

This is a lovely little piece, Josiah. Welcome back!

This type of slice map seems to be taking the Guild over by a storm! Glad to see people experimenting with new things, it's always super fun to see. This is a pretty cool slice! I'm really enjoying the brush work on the coloring and the shading. Welcome back!
What a cute cliché ! I really enjoy what you did there !
How fun! It's like a cute style sample. I agree with jshoer, it would be cool to see a cave system or underground city or something in that cross section--so many interesting possibilities!
Very nice , I want too try that paint style too sooner or later .
