Oh I thought you guys were moving to two month long challenges. Old school is cool too though.
This month's challenge comes to us courtesy of XCali:
The usual things:So for this challenge, map a canyon.
Map anything with the main theme of it revolving around a canyon. Some examples. You can map a top down map of a canyon with some clearly marked points of entrance and interest. Or a town overlooking the side of a canyon(or inside of it), Or a mysterious giant gate barring the entry of a canyon, Or a region map with a canyon splitting it in two. Or a continent of huge canyons scarring the land. Use your imagination.
In the end what matters is that the map feature a canyon prominently.
Get out the drawing board and let's see what comes out of this challenge!
1. Use the ### Latest WIP ### tag before each of your work-in-progress images so your entry will be visible throughout the month at a glance, and at voting time.
2. Title your threads like so: December 2022 Challenge: <your title goes here>
The challenge will end on Saturday December 30. That's New Year's Eve of course, so I will likely close things out in the mid-afternoon (US East coast time). Voting will last three days, and then we'll start dropping a hint every week on what the next challenge will be. The first person who guesses correctly (who will remain a closely guarded secret until the next challenge begins) will get to choose the topic for the next (Feb) challenge*. The prize for guessing the next Challenge topic will likely change from month to month.
* Subject to veto or revision by the CL running the Challenge - likely myself or Kel.

Nope, it'll be every other month. The months in between, you guys will get a hint every week of what the next challenge will be.
I feel like it's important to keep it to a month long challenge (in most cases) for a couple of reasons. First, people seem to lose interest more quickly, or not enter at all, or wait until the last minute and not finish if it's super long. Second, a month is a reasonable time span that kinda sorta simulates filling a commission.
Two days ago, I made my first CG post.
A few days ago, I started working on a canyon-city map for my D&D campaign.
Today, I learn that the December Challenge is a canyon map.
Coincidence?

Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.

About a week to go, everyone. This Christmas, give yourselves the gift of finishing your maps.
