Constellations
This was an interesting commission I just recently did.
It's sort of mappish and sort of not.
The client, Jason Hoogervorst, who is writing a novel, needed a chart of several constellations and then images of those constellations.
I don't normally post anything here but just straight maps, but I thought some of you might enjoy these.
Plus they're good examples if someone wants scifi or star maps done.
The first image is the constellation chart, which is just a simple thing with the connector lines and some old style mythic art of the constellation subject.
Then the others are renderings of the constellations.
Credit for the story concept and names is all Jason Hoogervorst [his DeviantArt page].

Very cool stuff. As someone who looks at a lot of astronomical pictures (such as NASA's astronomy picture of the day), I appreciate how accurate these images are to the way the sky really looks.

Gorgeous and inspiring work! And I agree with Xpian, it's very convincing.
Awesome. I particulary like the septad with the different Colors of the stars, like jewells on a crown.
