Default January 2018 Challenge: Islands of the missing name

I like the idea of this challenge, and I wanna give it a shot, but I do have an impressive history of entering these challenges and running out of time to finish my work, and I also have a lot of other commitments right now, so, we'll see what happens. I'll try to finish this within a month.

It's interesting to see all the different landforms that have already appeared for this challenge. When I saw the place names that we're given, as well as this comment from Mouse...

To the inhabitants of this region, the very idea of 'mainland' doesn't make any sense: all they know is the sea and the islands and, beyond that, the endless ocean spreading out...

I haven't got a name for this region yet, but I have got my first sketch. Please tell me what y'all think

Oh, cool idea! I never would've thought of an archipelago.

Nice! Looks like we both looked at the big and small labels as representing different things, but we came up with completely different interpretations!

Heh, considering the extent of the land masses this is like the polar opposite of my approach. I just love this month's challenge!
