Wip June 2018 Challenge: Modular map

    Hello,

I had an idea, to create a map by being able to assemble four square modules, presenting four "countries", in different ways.
According to the assembly, each country could have a frontier with another, or not.

When it's over, I will present several different maps (assembling the modules differently), even if only one will be extracted when it will be the moment of the vote.

That's what it looks like after a little test :
(on the final version, on each module, a river, a forest or a mountain will justify the position of the frontier).

Sigh. What I think is I have no idea to trump this: awesome moveable modules for the win. The only way you could top it is to put the tiles on one of these....

    Hello all,

    I need advice.
I work on a first module (there will be four), and i'm looking for a real top down view, because the module can be rotated in all directions.
The lake and the forests please me pretty much, but I am not at all convinced by the mountains. Of course it will be paint after.

What are you thinking ? Do you have other examples of representations of montains seen from above?

I do not know where I'm going with this work. But I'm not sure if I can come up with something correct by the end of the challenge.
    Thank you

Well... you could try my favorite caterpillar style mountains. That might work if you line the hatchures up right.

So, with 'caterpillar mountains', they have lines branching out from the top ridge of the mountain chain, making the chain kind of look like a fuzzy caterpillar, right? So you'd just have to make sure the lines don't 'break' from one module to the next. Here's an awesome Paint drawing to show what I mean. The more complex the hatchurs (lines), the trickier it would be line things up neatly.

Thank you for the explanation (and the drawing).
I'm going to put a continuity for lakes and rivers, but I do not think about forests and mountains.
    I must continue the tests.
