Thread: Ascension??

    Default Ascension??

    Hi folks,

I was told by a pal to head over to this site and check out Ascension's maps. I've heard of Ascension style maps on other forums before, so I thought it a good idea. The guy seems to be missing, though. Any ideas where he is? I need him.

I googled "ascension style map" and came up with a few links for you:

Cartographers' Guild - [Award Winner] My atlas style in PS

I can't speak for him, but it's possible Ascension is still around. He's still a Community Leader in the guild. It appears that he hasn't posted in a while, but he may still be checking out posts in the forums.

Yeah, there's a lot of folks that seem to have dropped off the grid... Ascension, Tilt, Gidde, many more.

Sadly no, Ascension has dropped off the map (nu pun intended). Hopefully he'll return one day.

...Tear, Steel General... sadly so many of the greats have slipped into obscurity these days.

Every once in a while, the hoary old masters turn up again.

I posted solely for the opportunity to use the word "hoary."

"Hoary" is good. I once got a compliment from a dean for using "obviate." Let's all be sure to delve into the abyssal diction zones for our vocabulary.

And we shall refer to lurkers as "sessile benthic filter feeders": creatures that sit stationary at the bottom of the ocean and just suck in whatever detritus passes by.

You deserve at least partial credit for that one - "sessile benthic filter feeders" tend to be found in the abyssal zone.

Goodness. What a delightful conversation I have stumbled upon
I do hope Ascension returns, I'd like to ask him one or two* things about his maps.

    *Meaning many
