    Question Our Logo

    Hi,

I'm just adding a couple of logos to my CV.

I'm a member of the Association of Illustrators and a local Design Collective but I'd also like to declare my interest in cartography by adding a CG logo with the other two.

Is there an officially sanctioned, print resolution version that we may use for this purpose?

If not I'd be happy to create one.

    Thankyou.

This sounds like a Robbie question.

Robbie's seen it; give him a few days to sort it.

So, I don't have a print resolution logo...BUT...I can render one out for you. Here's a link to the thread that has the link to us banners: https://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=345

I also have the full Crystal Rose scene that I can render easily if you tell me what size you'd like. If you were hoping for something more squared, I can make a large print size version of my avatar and add the site name and URL to it.

And here's the old version of the full image: https://www.cartographersguild.com/m..._Wall_1280.jpg

Only curious: who was the artist who made this image?

Yeah, that was an image I made just for fun a long time ago and when I started this site it was the inspiration for the theme.

Loving that C4D work there Robbie!
Never knew it was something you worked in.
I got in to it myself a while back and found it incredibly fun and useful- even with my limited skills.

It's a cool logo and it's really good of you to offer but wouldn't want to put you to the trouble of re-rendering stuff on my account.

You said "If you were hoping for something more squared, I can make a large print size version of my avatar and add the site name and URL to it.".
Sorry to be finicky but I was hoping for something more graphic and, yes, I realise I'm looking the gift-horse squarely in the mouth there!

I'm not a big fan of graphic work myself but when it comes to logos I guess it's unavoidable.
I was re-doing my CV and started pondering the "Guild" part of The Cartographer's Guild- thought it might lend itself to an "artisan" or "craft" style that could sit alongside logos like the AOI logo or organisational brand logos like these..

... the idea being that it would say "professional body" (but without needing to be all corporate-looking), incorporate the text "The Cartographers' Guild" and work well with just 2 flat colours, at even 100px square.

Hope I'm not causing offence, I think the logo as is is awesome but I was looking at different usage scenarios, etc and it just got me thinking.

    Thanks Robbie.

I've actually thought about marking a print style logo like that but I'd still want it to feature the crystal compass rose somehow. At this point you're welcomed to make one, but be aware the logo will need to be property of the guild when you're finished and I can't pay you right now for the design. Is that ok?
