Default February/March Challenge - The Unknown Lands

I was thinking about the challenge, and about those old maps you sometimes see, where the edges are blank with the exception of some monsters destroying ships, and I got to thinking, what would a map look like if instead of land dwelling homo-sapiens were trying to move across the oceans, there were ocean dwelling beings, who couldnt go on land. The seas would be known to them, but the land, and what was in the interior (beyond the beaches) would be a complete mystery. So thats what I decided to have a go at, and so far this is what I came up with.

I would recommend including the Mediterranean and Black seas, but not the Caspian or Aral. You might also consider some of the major river deltas, because there are usually lots of tasty, tasty things in the waters there (as well as lots of very peculiar smells, I would imagine).

Cool idea, the world from a Merman's perspective.

Also, if they're sea dwellers, they would probably have access to the Arctic Ocean - lots of tasty food thingies there and the water temperatures aren't as low as the air temps.

very good idea. I like the depiction of the scary land chicken. much more frightening than the Chicken of the Sea. ;P

I love the concept. Think I might borrow this for an off-the-wall D&D adventure. Like a reverse Apparatus of Kwalish (sp?).

I made substantial changes to the map. Added more colour and focused in on the Pacific. Still needs work.
