This is a great tutorial, and it's about time someone noticed it! (beside me, that is )
If you are a newcomer who has never drawn a realistic mountain range or if you belong to the perfectionnist kind who is always unsatisfied with the results, I have tried to give some practical suggestions in this tutorial.
Of course as the name indicates, the target is restricted to realistic maps.
If you don't care for realismus, you may freely disregard all and any suggestions I might give.
I hope it helps.

Check out my portfolio!
Very nice tutorial indeed. Well done deadshade.
Thanks for your comments.
I have got some PMs so that I know that people used it for their creations. Of course I would have liked some comments but after all a tutorial is made to help people so that if that goal is achieved, it has fulfilled its purpose
That's an awesome tutorial! Thanks for posting that and I am sure that I will get some use out of it :-)
Interesting... Most of my mountain chains will need to adapt then! I love Learning about stuff.
We all wish to create, but do we really create?
What we draw and what we write is part of us.
No we do not create, we simply discover who we are.

Thanks, Deadshade! This tutorial not only extended my understanding of how to craft realistic mountain ridges and peaks but my understanding of how (and where) mountains form. I'm attempting to map a story I'm working on and wanted to thank you for making my new world more plausible. Cheers!
Well done
Thank you, this was very helpful.
