Thread: Thylea Apokalypsis [Odyssey of the Dragonlords]

Map Thylea Apokalypsis [Odyssey of the Dragonlords]

Last map from the series, Odyssey of the Dragonlords done for Arcanum Worlds.
This one had me make changes to the original Thylea map and add in 4 devastions.
These were from a kraken, a tarrasque, an ancient shadow dragon, and then some sort of hodge-podge creature.
They said something like a greek godzilla, but i think it came out a bit different.

I then added the apokalypse feel to other parts of the map.More lava and volcanic activity, fire, floods, etc.
I had a good time with that. And the whole series, for that matter.
This was a great project to have been a part of.

The rest of the images can be found on DA

here on the guild - https://www.cartographersguild.com/a...p?albumid=5604
    even on artstation - https://www.artstation.com/johnstevenson/albums/1842207

    I show close-ups and stuff on twitter - https://twitter.com/jstevensonart
    and on IG - https://www.instagram.com/jstevensonart/
though at the moment, I am having issues between my android photo app and the IG app, so I haven't been able to post lately.
I am not a fan of the IG app, and actually the nature of IG and not allowing links. And the sizing issues for pics.
Really, i think there are a number of issues with IG, not least is being owned by GB. ;P
I also post to tumblr, if anyone likes using that more. It's a nice format for some things.

Anyways, hope everyone enjoyed the series.
Next up will be some of the patreon made content.
I'm ramping up this year and have a lot of cool plans for patreon.
2020 is gonna be a good year. I know it. Cheers, J

Always a pleasure and an education seeing your maps sir!

I'll be interested to see what you plan to do with patreon. I'm thinking of dipping my toe into those waters too, but I don't really know what to do with it yet.

I think this might be my favorite of the bunch. I like all the little details, and the way each monster is responsible for its devastations.

Very detailed! I love the sea monsters and the entire series has been wonderful to see revealed! I also enjoy seeing the names of the island maps you have previously posted appearing here.

So many magnificent details: animals and monsters, first of all ... the compass, the border, the title in flames, the parchment. And the whole gives quite this apocalyptic atmosphere. It is so well rendered! Then there are also the cities: they seem really fantastic. I would love to see more of them in details
It is a really lively map and its overall appearance is very impressive !
    Congratulations !

My first year, year and a half really, was a bit too random and not focused enough.
I was trying to do large projects and it just got hard to keep focused on.
And I think it was a bit outside of where I really should have been focusing.
I started this year with more focus on my little maps for little adventures.
I am also doing items and little backstory things for them.
I do that sort of thing anyways, just not publicly.

I am also trying to be better at being more active on patreon, as that was one comment i got several times from exit surveys of people who stopped supporting.
I started the year with more of a plan. That said, it's going to be a hard slog to get to a point where it is financially viable.
I propbably shot myself in the foot with the single low cost. I do have some great patrons though, so I can not complain.

Yeah, I had to hide the names from the first Thylea map, by request.
But they were fine with showing them on this later map, which I'm glad.
Being able to find the little versions of the other islands is cool.

Do you mean close ups of the cities? or the cities drawn in more detail?
If close up, I can definitely do that. I'll post some right after i finish this post.
