    Post Hello

    Hi everyone,

I just started using gimp & inkscape a couple of months ago and stumbled across this site. I've learned more here in the two weeks I've been reading than I could have imagined I could ever do. This is a great community with lots of friendly and VERY talented people and I'm glad you're all so helpful. Special thanks to RobA because I've been diving into his excellently detailed tutorials and learning tons, but I read all the others too and they are great. I want to do them all.

I put my first picture up in the "Creating old weathered maps" tutorial. I'm working on following along on the "artistic regional map in gimp" tutorial as well and I'll put one up there when I get through the whole thing. I call them my "RobA tribute maps" hehe =)

Anyway, glad to be here and keep up the great work everyone. Thanks!

So here's my first map. Thanks to RobA and his Artistic Regional Map tutorial and also the Tapered Inkscape river tut. I used both here.
It's not done yet, but I've gotten bogged down in the tutorial and need to get a little momentum back up. Hopefully some feedback will spur me on.

    Any comments/suggestions are welcome!
Thanks for all the help so far.

Thats not bad if thats a first attempt. The river courses are a little out. Theres a - actually several - tutorials about that. The hills are a bit bright orange but its really good generally.

For a first go at RobA's tutorial that's pretty darn good. Much better than I managed.
