Jan/Feb '18 Lite Challenge: The Whispering Path

Oh hi!

Couldn't sit this one out, so here is mine so far.

And as always, I stared over the edge down far below and saw the rugged terrain down there and... threw myself off the deep end. Bamboo is hard to do!! Nevertheless, it worked out so far, yes?
Please leave feedback, this is really a bit of an ambitious go at a map for me, so any help is greatly appreciated. Hope you enjoy.

Hehe, I was trying for something I haven't seen before. It was quite a process, the leaves being the most time-consuming part. But, I am quite happy so far with the result. Now the big challenge comes with figuring out what kind of extras needs to be added to a fantasy bamboo forest.

Thank you. I appreciate it. They started out as a pencil and paper sketch before I scanned it and started playing around with brightness and contrast with multiply.

Today I thought I'd draw some new assets and yeah, it came out quite interesting hehehe.
Tell me what you think.

Oh! I do want to know two things. One, the stone pillars at the BOTTOM, do you think I should keep them glowing or without the light? And two, do you think I should keep the yellow flowers and expand on them, or are the yellow flowers odd for this map?

The flowers? Hmmmm... ok, they're ok, but I wouldn't cover the entire map in them, or it will look really far to dotty. Also keep them in patches

Yeah, I don't plan on changing the bamboo trees. Maybe small tweaks here and there.

The flowers is an odd challenge, on one hand I like them, on the other I can probably better them. But I won't add much more than there already is, so it's no worry.

The only thing I dread for the map is the labeling phase. As usual.

I like the glowing pillars and the stonehenge rocks. I think the flowers are a little to bright and take the eye away from the map. Maybe keep the flowers but tone them down a little.

Hi!

Okay, I got carried away and shaded the ground quite a bit to get ridges to pop out and stuff. Also, I added the overgrown rock tooth. Hopefully, it works.

Then, I increased the intensity of the glowing in the rock pillars at the bottom. And toned down my flowers to a soft purple. Changed the weird circle structure's color too. Oh! I added a light effect in the maw of the map's mysterious entrance.

So, basically quite a few changes. Let me know if I broke something.
