Default Dec '16 / Jan '17 Lite Challenge: A Dangerous Plaice

Here is a plaice, and it is dangerous. Very dangerous. First of all it lives at the bottom of an incredibly deep trench. To fish it out it would simply explode, the pressures it has to endure. So why bother in the first place? Well you see it gets kidney stones and gall stones and they are made from carbon, which under pressure turn to diamonds. Exquisitely beautiful and horrendously expensive diamonds, the rarest diamonds in the world. In fact only one has ever managed to be recovered and that is kept under huge high security, despite many attempts (and fatal failures).

Along comes some nutcase professor in a laboratory somewhere, with strange formulae written on a board in the corner and an inexplicable smoking, green liquid in a glass vessel bubbling away on a bench, and you just know there's the smell of rotten eggs in there. He has an idea. He has built a submarine that can withstand the pressures. Furthermore he's come up with a way to miniaturise the submarine to such tiny proportions that it is able to make its way through the digestive tract of the plaice and navigate to the diamonds, where it can extract them and transport them back out and to the surface where untold riches await.

All he needs now are five stupid brave adventurers to crew the sub and go on a Fintastic Voyage!

Not necessarily to scale :p here's the outline so far. I need to get the innards drawn in so the crew have something to follow once they're inside. Oh, and the dangers inside, apart from the miniaturisation process, and the massive pressures in the deep, once inside the fish they'll have to endure attacks from antibodies, the swim bladder is filled with highly toxic gases and the bile fluid is highly corrosive. So yeah, it is a dangerous plaice.

Ahhh, Fantastic Voyage. One of my favorite movies growing up. At 13 years old I was just able to appreciate Raquel's obvious talents.

Cool Idea Straf, welcome to the Challenge.

Apparently adult flounders don't have swim bladders. They lose them when their eye migrates so they can stay on the bottom. Maybe this particular one has adapted it into a toxin gland. After all if it can produce five carat diamonds in its organs it can probably do anything.

I'm not sure which sentence was the biggest bomb shell in that reply. Cod you imagine having your eye migrate!?

Yeah, and where do they migrate TO? Is there a resort somewhere for fishy eyeballs? We need to know!
