Review
This excellent map is brought to us by Turanil. The map was done using Adobe Photoshop, and shows a style of relief mapping That shows a great combination of controlled randomization. The use of lighting effects to accomplish this style, along with the appearance of hand-drawn map symbols and stunning color makes this a gorgeous map.
Artists Notes
I created the "Continent of Brennan" map several years ago, for an
online rpg. This is the reason for which the cities get numbers
instead of names. However, as that game aborted, the map saw no use.
Later I proposed the map for a Wiki OGL campaign world on the
Internet: Tempest. This is a d20 setting to which anybody can
contribute. This time, I reworked the map a little, especially the
oceans. But soon, several contributors were disatisfied with the map,
hence it was discarded in favor of a simple outline of the two
continents. Again, the "Continent of Brennan" map saw no use. In any
case, I released this map as a free-clipart under the "Creative
Commons License", so anyone is free to use for their own purpose.
Now, for those who would like to create a similar map, I wrote a
tutorial (when I first made the map). If I weren't so lazy I would
update it with the few tricks I learned since then, but I am too lazy
for that, sorry. Nonetheless, I think you should be able to improve
the system by yourself easily. My hope is that you post the map you
will have done, using part or all of the tutorial's suggestions. That
would be great. Thanks. Click here to download tutorial (pdf)

I also know this is a very old thread... but here's the dead link fixed.

The best maps are the ones we like the most after looking at the longest.
