I'd like to think I could call myself an amateur cartographer, but that would be a stretch at best. Nevertheless, I have some knowledge in geomorphology, a love for fantasy and steampunk, as well as a passion for design. I have a fair bit of skill in Photoshop and am now picking up Illustrator.

I don't know if I'll ever reach the point where I would comfortably refer to myself as a cartographer, but I expect that I will certainly be friendly with those that do. The world in a story or game is only as rich as its creator allows it to be, and like music for a movie, it gets a little strange if a map isn't involved.

All skill levels are welcome here and you've come to the right place to discuss your thoughts and ideas with like-minded people. Feel free to create a thread in one of the Work-in-progress folders if you've started something that you'd like some opinions on. Alternatively, there's lots of helpful info in our Tutorials/How To section if you're just getting started. Look forward to seeing some of your work, and if you're unsure about anything, just ask.

The Guild is home to map-lovers from all different walks of life, ranging in skill from enthusiast to industry professional. Most of us are somewhere in the middle.
