Thread: Creating a more zoomed in version of a map

Default Creating a more zoomed in version of a map

I have a map of a large land mass that is made of multiple countries with the capitals of each country marked. What I am wanting to do is to make a map for each individual country that shows more details of the country (smaller cities, roads, etc.) based off of this large map. What is the best way to do this. The way that I make maps is based off of this tutorial https://www.cartographersguild.com/s...ad.php?t=19007 should i stick with this way of making maps or is there a better way to do what I am wanting to do with less randomness to it?

This the map that I'm working with

Thank you in advance to anyone that can help

For the topic of rescaling - "creating a more zoomed in or out version" - I think it is best to refer you to this post by a real pro, made in response to a similar request just a short time ago. Also read the rest of the thread this post was made on... it might be helpful.

As for the style: Maps made with RobA's great tutorial are more suited to regional map - larger scale, smaller area - than for "large land masses".
If you want to go for a similar "realistic" style, you could go for Ascencion's "Atlas style" tutorial (there is a version for GIMP, done by Gidde), Arsheesh's "Eriond" tut, or try to adapt Tear's "Saderan" Photoshop tutorial. You can find all these tutorials in the tutorial subsection... just check the Tutorials in PDF Format sticky thread, or do a quick search.
