inside out starmap View, Need Ideas

I Got this starmap of the northern constellations throughout the seasons that I roughed out of a book onto paper, I scanned it and transferred it through photoshop to gimp and now I am at a loss for how to transfer such a clock diagram with the southern constellations, it would end up being inside out. how could I accomplish such a feat? any ideas? I also remember a movie with a map that showed not only land but time rifts I wish I could remember more about the movie but time travellers used it to find portals. Man I am out of Ideas I am reminiscing old cinema, heheh.

I not sure exactly what your trying to do but you can get star chart apps that rotate the sky with real time. Theres some Celestia people here and Stellarium is excellent for this too.

Can you flip the picture left-to-right?
I don't use Gimp, so I'm not familiar with its commands.

What is it that you're trying to accomplish with your diagram?
Do you need/want it to be hand drawn for a particular reason
or would a computer generated version be adequate?

The sky of the southern hemisphere rotates counter-clockwise instead of clockwise. Once you have your southern constellation backdrop, all you need to do is draw up a clock diagram that goes the opposite way - assuming that's what you were asking?

I think I can see what your saying and I do have a southern hemisphere.
This is a good Idea I am just now drawing up a rough. Thanks for the idea.
Oh by the way these are based on the circumpolar rotation of the earth. so What I wish to accomplish at the same time is from a perspective of a person through sea travel or whatever means guiding himself at night. I am almost tempted to keep looking through the pdb (Planetary DataBase) at pdb.nasa.gov. but I get stuck in there. Oh and does any one remember that movie?

Well I have drawn out the second rough With the two hemispheres side by side, and I believe this will create a "map of the stars" that is very scintillating. But I am at a loss for how I would Create a "Map of the stars for guiding those travelling at night". I am using the double hemisphere fashion just like in the celestia diagrams above. Now when I draw the land, 'To which will be correlated By Longitude and Latitude, I end up with a primitive Torus Inside Out. That is to say a circular Cylinder. This is not the best way to guide someone Becuase they would have to imagine themselves somewhere on that earth (the inside out torus earth) to calculate there position. But This is a doable map just Very Iconocentric of ourselves(ie. Our World being the center of anything). I am attempting to make a render so I will not have to post my hand drawn Rough. Any Other Ideas are very welcome becuase as you will see the problems with the loss of connection between the southern and northern star constellations is too much with the double hemisphere.

Two days ago I had an astrolabe in my hand, at a Renaissance fair. But, truth be told, it was not of the greatest quality.

Still, I've always wanted one. Of course, I want a really good one, for no reason other than that they're cool.

Strikes me you might be wanting to draw your surface map as a pair of conic projections, one from the north pole, depicting the northern hemisphere, which would be linked to the northern sky chart, and one from the south pole...
Each surface map could then be related easily to the contellations of the appropriate sky chart, and your map of heaven and earth would comprise four circles.
I could see the two upper circles being the star charts, and beneath each would be the appropriate hemispherical surface map.

IIRC there was some awful kids movie about a group of time travellers with a map, that started with a motley crew of dwarves etc falling out of some kids wardrobe. Would that be the one?
