Campaign Cartographer Newbie

Hi all, I recently purchased Campaign Cartographer 3. I enjoy it and am still learning the program. I especially have an issue with text. A lot of the tools seem rather archaic especially for that price but overall I am pleased with it. I have considered getting the Fractal Plains add-on, for a more realistic map. I am not sure if it is worth it. I really don't understand how it correlates with CC3. Any enlightenment is highly appreciated.

I have also considered trying to create maps via GIMP, I am generally not great at using the photoshop-esque programs as I can not draw.

Fractal Terrains 3 is a parallel product to CC3 whose primary purpose if to produce synthetic world maps that can be exported to CC3 for embellishment. It has lots of fancy toys that are at best only peripheral to that task, though. As the programmer who wrote the code for FT3, I like to recommend that everyone buy one copy of FT for themselves and at least one more to give to their friends. Maybe that's a little self-serving, though.
