    Default The Continent of Équilas

Map I drew as a favour to a friend depicting his setting of Équilas, a star-shaped continent criss-crossed by colossal chasms and magical steam trains, where people fight a desperate battle against the creatures crawling from underneath the surface. Started out as a way to flesh out his world, and now it's getting published along with his novel, so it was a bit unexpected to say the least!

Drawn in Photoshop using a digital tablet. Fonts used were Cardinal (for regions), Castellar (for water bodies), Charlemagne (for mountains), and Minion Pro (for individual locations). Part of the texture was done using an Old Paper Texture from ibackgroundz.

Image is at a 30% of the original size (full version was a bit too heavy. You can find it here: http://mcmagnanimus.deviantart.com/a...ilas-601125404).

It's lovely! It would be nice to see a higher res version of this map though, it's hard to pick out the details at this resolution.

EDIT: I missed the link, thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

Perhaps not my all time favorite map, but certainly impressive! Congrats on completing it and congrats for getting it in that book, hope it goes well.

Fantastic, very detailed. I like the printed effect on the hi res version, I'll have to experiment with something similar myself.

I really like the coloring, feels like an ink wash or water color.
