Default Oct / Nov '17 Lite Challenge: Imperial Dragon Island

My first foray into any of the CG challenges, so I hope I have followed all the rules about posting. Imperial Dragon Island is inspired by my younger brother's character from our 30+ year (on and off) D&D campaign. My brother passed away last Tuesday at the age of 52, suddenly and unexpectedly. This is for his memory and something that has helped to keep me occupied. It is a WIP.

    Hello Scott

As I said over on the PF forum, I am very sorry to hear such bad news. My condolences.

And I will also say again - that's a really great map, and a fitting tribute to your brother - a gift that comes straight from your heart.

EDIT: forgot to say - I'm "LoopySue" over at PF

    Thanks.

I'm sort of stuck right now, unsure of what else to do with it. It needs... something. There's still a few weeks, so I'll keep tinkering with it. Maybe putting the important labels on it will help. I think I'll do that next.

I know you are fairly well into this map by now, Scott, but how about adjusting the position of the island so that the title isn't overlapping that extreme west coastline?

Maybe a frame of some kind?

And a deeper contour for the ocean away from the island?

Just throwing a few ideas around

Great map Scott, Welcome to the Challenge. I think Mouse has some good advice there.
Sorry to hear about your brother, this is a very nice tribute to him.

Thanks, Bogie, thanks, Mouse. Those were some very helpful ideas. Here's the latest incarnation of the map:

Oh I love-love -LOVE the frame texture!

Where did you get that one from?

Its just like a painted silk pattern.

Moving the island has worked really well with the composition, and the ocean looks much more convincing with the added contour.

If I'm itching to tweak it myself, then you're already hitting quite high on my appreciation scale

The map is very nice with some lovely mountains in it. But the image of it is quite low res that I want to see it a bit closer up. Are you doing it in higher res than this or is this the 1:1 scale of the image ?
