Post Oct / Nov '17 lite challenge: Principality of Skyhold

Hi everyone ment to post this a week ago amazing how time flies. For this challenge I thought I would go with a floating island belonging to a magicly advanced civilization that decided to leave the land and head toward the sky.

Nicely done, Mr Blue! I'm wishing for a little more resolution in your upload. However, that could just be because I'm old and like to zoom in on pretty much every image I look at these days. (Hey you kids! Get off my lawn!! )
But I absolutely love the concept in general and all of the artistic touches you've put into the title, legend, compass, and scale!
    Bravo! Well done!

Should you happen to find the time, it's open season on my entry to this month's Lite Challenge, West Prapihn Islet. Come take your shot!

this is beautiful! It looks like an island of ice and snow... I love snow! and I love the color and texture of your sky! I am curious though... the network of 'cracks' in the middle of the island... what is that? is it a system of rivers?
Like a thief in the night
    she comes with no form
    yet tranquility proceeds
    the accursed storm...

I'm gonna go with the others and say that you have a neat concept. When I open up the thumbnails page, your map grabs my attention almost immediately. It looks beautiful.

I'm gonna be honest here, because that's what we do.. while your thumbnail is beautiful, to me (as this is only MY opinion), the full size image falls a bit flat in some places. Maybe I'm like Mixerbach up there and just have old eyes, but the resolution seems way off, almost like you made the map too small at first and then stretched it out. The font has its merit, but it's really hard for me to read, especially the longer words that are cramped a bit to fit into the legend.

Speaking of legends, there seems to be some weird artifacts around it and the title.

The color scheme is phenomenal, and the linework is good. I like the icons, and the overall presentation is really nice. The map definitely has a moodiness to it, and that's a good thing.

    Great map, InfiniteBlue

I agree with a lot of what IG says, but I think my eyes see either sharper or differently. The cartouche and font seem to be sort of... speckly to me? That might be a resolution thing, but I'm just thinking out loud here...

Is it possible that you have a dissolve effect on that layer without realising it?

Mouse I think our eyes are the same, but your verbage is much better. A dissolve effect is a much better estimation of the issue than resolution!
