Does anybody (RobA?) know if there is a similar approach that can be used in GIMP?
I know RobA has posted a tutorial about using Inkscape to get the tapered river shape and then importing that into GIMP and since Inkscape is free, that might work for you. I ended up just breaking down and getting a tablet and it was the best descision I have made when it comes to making maps.Originally Posted by Jkaen

There is currently no good solution in GIMP to taper a stroke along a path. 2.6 (next release) s supposed to have that feature. Until then, I use Inkscape.
UPDATE: Here is a script I wrote to taper stroke along a path in Gimp.

Maybe we have to back-tag more threads, or organize/index them in some manner more conducive to finding them...more like a knowledgebase or something.
