Thread: The World of Yr and the Twelve Moons + Map of Tooj

Map The World of Yr and the Twelve Moons + Map of Tooj

    Hello!
This is the first time I post in this thread. I hope I'm doing everything by the rules

These are two of my latest maps. They have been commissioned by Jean Curci. He asked me to paint a couple of maps for his RPG setting.
In particular he asked me to paint The archipelago of Tooj inspired by Burma and another map showing the world of Yr in which Tooj is located together with its twelve moons.

I usually start by doing a lot of research. Once I've gathered all the info I draw a rough sketch of the overall composition. Once I'm happy I proceed with the drawing. Then I ink the map using a dip pen with different sizes of nibs (I buy my nibs here: https://www.scribblers.co.uk/ , I use this ink: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0026439C4 and this paper: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002R0P9R0 ).
Once the inking part is done I go on painting the map with watercolours and add some finishing touches with coloured pencils. I usually add text digitally but I also write it directly on the map if requested.

These are really wonderful Francesca, as you maps usually are.
I really love the Tooj map especially.
The addition of your process of work and what tools/ink you use is nice too.
Glad to see you posting here.

These are absolutely beautiful! And you painted these?!? Absolutely wonderful work! I especially like the detail of the different moons on the main map.

And the detail on the Tooj map is incredible! Have some rep from me

Thank you very much Ladiestorm and J.Edward!
I'm working on a new commissioned map in these days. I hope I will be able to share it with you next week

I have a bunch of finished maps in my album. Should I create a new post for each finished map or put them all together in one thread?

Thanks for posting Francesca. I love your work. It's simply beautiful and you are so talented! I love the way you've captured the sense of an old map from a few centuries back, when maps were far more decorative. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Feel free to start a new thread for each map and you can name the thread after the map. That way if anyone was searching for your work, they can find it easily. Looking forward to seeing more.

One bit of advice - maybe don't create a whole bunch of threads all on the same day
people might miss them and you won't be able to be repped for all of them if they are posted too close together.
If there's no rush, maybe post a map or 2 per week until you get caught up.

edit - just featured these over on FB.

Wonderful maps Francesca, the fact that they are made with traditional methods (ink, watercolor, etc..) give them a really cool feeling!!
I expecially like the Tooj one, it reminds me of some adventure book I've read when I was kid!
