These are just fabulous Max! I love the warm colors, the mountain ranges and those really spiffy borders. As usual, these are going straight into my inspiration folder.

Hey all,
I've been lately commisioned by author Bradley Beaulieu to make maps for his novel "12 Kings of Sharakhai" from his serie "The Song of the Shattered Sands". Here is the map of the Desert of Shangazi and the map of the city of Sharakhai. you can also take a look at Brad's website where he posted some "behind the scene" articles about these maps and our collaboration.

I love the town map, Max. Not a great fan of the white text, but the rest of it is fab,
I'm reading this book right now, and was very frustrated that it doesn't have any maps! I'm guessing these are for the trade paperback or sequel hardovers?
In any case - awesome as usual, Max. I LOVE the idea of using rhumb lines in the desert; it makes total sense, since it IS a sand sea... I'm gonna have to steal that idea.
thank you all you guys!
Yes, I guess so.
About the rhumb lines, we had a discussion with Bradley to use them. It makes sense since because in Brad's story, ships sail the desert. These ships they have these skis made of “skimwood” that allow them to sail over the desert easily and we ended up by thinking that it would be interesting to have some rhum lines on the map.
Great maps!
Well, this is cool! I have that book on my Kindle, though I haven't read it yet.
Maps are beautiful. I love the desert one and those mountain ranges. They look utterly amazing! Fantastic work.
