I love both of your inspirations! Kowloon Walled City has been a fascination of mine for ages, as with the Gangs of New York. My interest in the latter was sparked by Mark Helprin's novel Winter's Take and then by Herbert Asbury's book The Gangs of New York, which is "non-fiction" with a big dose of fantasy, or at least legend.

I can't wait to see what you build out of this!

Are you talking about on the scale? It looks like some artifact of the font he used. It does look a bit odd. But as you said, good map! I always wanted to try an old-school gang war map like this...
