Not an artist but definitely want to draw my maps...

Hello all!
I am definitely most interested in drawing my own maps, more nautical then otherwise, but have very little practice with drawing. If any one has an ideas on how to start/what to look for when starting drawing, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Hi yosi, welcome to the guild.

There is no better way to get into map drawing then getting started on a project, probably a small one or test drawing. I would grab a pencil, a ball point pen and some coloured pencils or anything similar that you have lying around and find an existing map that you like the style of. Have a go at copying it or drawing a different location in the same style. Working from existing references is always easier than making something up completely from scratch and you can build up to that over time.

I have an article on my website talking about how I got into cartography, maybe this will be of some use to you as well. But really, there is no substitute for just getting stuck in and trying something. Come back and post it here afterwards for some feedback as well.
