That's brilliant, Abu. I was trying to decide whether it was worth learning yet another piece of software. But after seeing this the next thing I'm doing is installing GIMP
Hello everybody,
yesterday i told Barek the way i do legends and backgrounds for map titles in Gimp. So i thought, why not make a little tutorial out of it. Most of the techniques are well known already, i just haven't seen a tutorial for this specific purpose yet.
Hope it'll be helpful for someone.
Cheers,
AL

Great to hear that Mouse, i can only say it was "worth it" for me. Working for around two years with it now, i still find out new things everytime but you can have a lot of fun with it from minute one, so don't hesitate! Also, if you prefer working with other programs you could still use gimp to do only stuff like such legends or info boxes and export them...

I think I will probably switch over to GIMP once I've figured out the controls (not one of my strong points, as I'm sure everyone here has already realised LOL). I'm relying on a very very old and horrendously outdated copy of CorelDraw right now (version 9 I think), and its rapidly becoming apparent that it just isn't up to the job any more. I wish I could give you rep for this post, but I can't right now because I have to go and choose another five maps first. Sorry!
As I'm swamped in settling in a new apartment, I haven't got much time to look at your tuto but I think it's a great idea and I'm sure it'll help me a great deal. I'm very glad to see you more around here
Thanks Thomas, hope you're nonetheless happy with the new apartment and the moving is going (went?) well. I have holidays atm (and the weather isn't too appealing right now ), so i can do even more mappy things!
Thanks Josiah, that's good to hear. Your last Mini tut gave me the idea to make another tutorial.

This should probably also work in Photoshop. Great work!
