Just as an FYI...I actually connect to freenode multiple evenings a week for several hours...So at least you'll periodically see me
I would participate, sounds like fun!
I would not participate, not interested.
Figured I'd try this again...because it's been a long time since we tried, and I wasn't really sure how the last one fared. How would you all feel about an IRC channel for the guild? It'd be a great place for us to gather for "special occasions", general chit-chat, help, Q&A's, AMA's, etc...
As a trial, I've created #cartographersguild on irc.freenode.net. you can pop in and see if it works for you. Maybe it'll take off, maybe it won't. Feel free to post your thoughts here and vote on this poll!
I thought I'd add, for others - http://webchat.freenode.net/?channel...ographersguild
then put in a username then the channel is #cartographersguild
You can also use an irc client like mirc on windows, or xchat or irssi on linux. Not sure about mac.

I just popped over and checked that out.
I think maybe one person was on. Never done irc before really though.
Could be nice for more interactive discussions.

Yeah...I'm heading to bed for now...I'll probably be in tomorrow night.
I use IRC occasionally at home. I've had a couple of very positive interactions with Inkscape developers there (I will never stop loving the fact that you can raise issues direct with developers, and sometimes they fix them then and there!) I'll check it out over the weekend when I'm at home, as I prefer to use an IRC client, rather than a web portal. It's handy to know it's there, especially if there are issues with the upcoming server upgrade.
"We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams"
I'm in the channel now if anyone wants to pop in and be bored with me. Probably an hour or so.
Was just chatting with someone named tealover...Hi! Come back, you don't have to have an account...I just figured you did...
I am personally in favor, but I just wish it could be implemented into the forums/site thmeselves, even just as a link that says "Cartographers' Guild IRC Chat. I think that sort of promotion might help populate the chat.
