Map Big Bearskin Lake and The Property - Commission

    Hey all,

I did two maps, both 24" x 24", as a set that depict a fellow's property on their lake in northern Wisconsin, USA. Both maps are prints made by engraving/drypoint on a copper plate. The calligraphy was hand done after printing as well as the watercolor. I went big on this one and it was great! Learned a lot about engraving, drypoint, printing, and watercolor techniques. Finished copies can be viewed in my album.

Below I posted a number of WIP images. I'm done with the project already, but I thought I'd share anyway. If anybody has feedback on anything they'd like to see different I hope you share that anyway too. Unfortunately the maps were too large to scan; the pictures don't do it full justice.

Somewhere along the line I thought I preferred B&W, but the customer wanted color.

Work on the Title block. The layout of this image I really like.

Need to soak paper before watercolor. This is just a funny picture so I thought I'd share.

Finished versions of both maps. Like I said, wish I could scan these guys. The photos are not super sharp when you zoom in. Ended up with 3 copies of each map. Each with minor differences.

I could see the images when I first posted, but when I checked again I also could not see them. Should be fixed now. If not... I'm at a loss.

I totally love the illustrative way you did for the trees and buildings. Thanks you for sharing.
