Thread: Globular Map Projection

    Question Globular Map Projection

I suppose it's a long shot, but does anyone have any idea how one would go about drawing/geometrically constructing a globular map projection (or a Nicolosi projection)? I draw all my maps by hand, and I haven't found anything on the internet about drawing a 16th/17th century map projection by hand.

Lazy folks might just use Stereographic. It's not quite the same as Nicolosi's projection, but it looks like this screenshot from ProFantasy's Fractal Terrains product with the "AE Hemispheres" projection:

Stereographic has the nice property that everything is true circles. It's fairly straightforward for me to make you a grid image, if you can tell me your desired resolution.

The thing is, I need to draw the stereographic projection by hand, on paper. The grid image can be of any size, as long as I can reproduce it onto a separate sheet of paper.
