    Map First Map: Outland

    AiUz96H.jpg

I have been working on this for a week now, and I think it's finally ready for viewing. It is meant to be a high-fantasy colonial style. I know the borders seem a bit unnatural, but there was no real other way to add them. Also, I feel their jaggedness adds a tone to the map which I highly enjoy.

I do hope you love it, internet!

Hello, UtlikanaRe, Congratulations on your first map post!

I think you have a good start here. Your land shapes are interesting, and you chose some attractive coloring. Your labeling is good, but your rivers need a lot of work. There is an excellent tutorial here on rivers: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=3822

You have a texture on the seas, and that's good. I think as you start getting more sophisticated with the tools you are using (what program is it?) that you will start using textures other places as well.

I hope to see more of your work soon

Thank you very kindly for the advice! Ya, I had a feeling my rivers would be a tad..wobbly. I will take note of that tutorial. Also, I am using Photoshop Elements 13.
