    Post Another encounter map

A new try for the contest.
I just wanted to draw a path at the side of the mountain. But then a cave entrance appeard to my mind. After that a hole burried itself, as if an ankheg was protecting the entrance...
Then it thought that the road was no more used and that a warning was installed... Nevertheless our (foolish) adventurers will brave this dangers!

You seem to have a drop shadow around your hole, which is a little bizarre. I'd get rid of that if you can. I'd also make the centre darker - almost to black. The shadows on the map are already quite dark, and that hole should be the darkest of all. Otherwise, I'm liking it a lot - especially the bones!

    Looking very cool.

Torstan - I had to look hard to see that drop shadow around the hole - my eyes must be getting as bad a I'm always joking they are.

Very evocative! I agree about the drop shadow. If anything it should go in the hole. You would probably get a good result just painting in an adjustment layer of contrast and use a gradient.

I think the hole looks much better now.

I'd suggest darkening the entire hole image more. The edges of the hole are much brighter than the grass texture so it makes it look higher than the grass. Definitely getting better though.

One thing to consider about that hole that occurred to me just now. If you look at most burrowed holes there actually is a berm of earth surrounding it as it is kicked up and deposited as the burrower digs down. So I actually think that simonutp was on the right path initially with the drop shadow as that would indicate a berm there. Unless of course the hole was dug from the bottom up in which case there wouldn't be a berm.
