Thread: March 2018 Challenge: The Divided city of Marchchall

Default March 2018 Challenge: The Divided city of Marchchall

I'll be trying an isometric city map here. Nobody can keep a clear mind for long, huh? Especially after Laelith and Tun Vareg. With hope the more iso maps i'll draw the better they'll be...
I've been doodling on an A3 paper since february, drawing building after building, and when this challenge came around I thought I was ready to try my hand for real. So I got out a blank paper... and stopped working on it early in March. i came back to it a couple of days ago, and as you can see from this blurry image (I'll scan and color it when it's done - if I have time) I didn't make that much work . But hopefully it'll be growing over the days. I'm not making that big a map, just about the size of a town, but, hey, olden times .
As of yet I am not sure about the reason of the city's division, apart from the fact that it's divided by a bridge that the right side can pull up anytime... and the left side, though smaller in population, is supported by a powerful fleet I'll have lots of fun drawing (I'm a ship nerd)!
I've quickly come to realise that I have no... power with architecture. I'll need reference - if one of you could point me to some handy fantasy architecture tips and files?
Also, I could not stop myself from using this play with words for the title.
And once again, forgive this blurry image, I'm too lazy to scan yet.

Your perspective seems spot on. I always have trouble when things don't match up at right angles... That's a fine looking town so far

    Thanks Ilanthar, nopkin.
I really hope I'll get it done before the 30th... but I'm distracted by books, another map which is closer to my heart, and bouts of laziness...
