Thread: Stoke issues with GIMP 2

Question Stoke issues with GIMP 2

So my copy of Photoshop is crashing on launch, and every copy of the Middle East Version of Photoshop does this eventually, (it's happened on 2 different comps now) Now I'm stuck with GIMP 2.

Big problem is that the mapping methods I use are primarily ones learned from Jezelf's tutorial a few years back with some of my own techniques thrown in. This means that the stroke tool, winch in Photoshop is invaluable for defining coastlines or edges, is now next to useless, as there's no option, it seems to only stroke the inside or outside of a selection, only along the center. Is this changeable?

Hi Neptondoodle. I don't know a way to change the stroke-settings in gimp directly to the way it is in PS (but i'd be very interested too, if someone knows how to do it btw. ). Not sure if it helps, but here are two possible ways, i use with gimp to get a similar result:
1.) If you put the stroke on a seperate layer you can simply clear the side you dont want (for clearing the stroke "outside", just invert the selection).
2.) Make the selection into a path and then stroke the path instead of the selction, but keep the selection. This way the stroke appears only inside the selected area, but may alter a bit, as the path is usually not exactly the same as the selection. Here you also might need to invert the selection before, if you want the stroke "outside".

    Good luck!
