    Wip Polyconic Projection

    Hi Everyone!

I am going to use this projection in order to draw the map of my world. I find it more helpful to view worlds this way than on the flat-style projections because the distortion is much less near the poles, so the distance between two landmasses is a lot easier to see.

But anyway, here's a blank projection I drew with a pencil, protractor, and compass.

Wow, hand drawn, very ambitious. GL, I look forward to seeing what you do with it. It definitely takes away the normal distortion from from a flat map. are you going to put it onto a computer program or keep it 'analog.' just curious?

    Thanks for the comment!

The plan is to draw it by hand, but I'll probably end up touching it up with GIMP because the scanner tends to do mean things with the image background.

Havent seen too many maps on here with that projection - in fact cant think of one... There are equal area projections which have that property of not bloating out space in some areas. This is probably one of them. Interesting anyway - will keep my eye on it !

    Added continents to the map.

@Redrobes - I think this is the Neil-Globular projection, which I THINK is polyconic but I may have misinterpreted it. This is the site: http://www.quadibloc.com/maps/mcv0601.htm
