Well I'm no expert where mountain drawing is concerned (you know that, I know), but for what its worth they're looking good to me
This is very early on, and kind of sloppy as it stands now. I’ve only just started the mountain outlines, and never tried doing them with connected peaks before. I have allot more mountains to add, but I started testing out some smaller hills tonight, and I’m unsure of weather they match this style of mountains...Should I be taking a different approach to the smaller hills? I’m just unsure of weather it’s working.
Any advice, critique is welcome, I’d love to hear you’re thoughts before I continue the mountain outlines.

Well kacey, It looks promising to me and I am looking forward to see your project growing
I really like the mountains ridges but the main stroke seems very clean compared to the secondary ones. Maybe decrease slightly the opacity of the crest line. I cannot wait to see what you're planning for the rest of the map :-)
Well, as someone who is quite a bit stingy on forests and mountains, i can tell you that you have my approval with these mountains No seriously, i think they look very good so far. The shading and rounding them out will be a bit to do yet, but so far i very much like what i see. Looking forward to the rest of this WIP!

Thanks randigpanzrall I appreciate the kind words.
I totally agree with you thomrey, I only wish it was so simple as lowering the opacity on the crest line layer. When I started this it was just a blank canvas that I was practising mountains on, I decided I kind of liked them, and then added a coast to fit. Sadly all those mountain outlines are on one layer, lowering the opacity will unfortunately effect all the lines at once, so my only option is to redo all of the outlines, and put the different parts in the right layers from the beginning so this doesn’t happen again.
What caused the problem is that I started out with a hard round brush for the main ridges, aiming towards clean sharp lines, and then switched to a hard round tapperd brush with more sensitivity for the secondary lines trying to fade out the bottoms. I know now that this caused some major inconsistencies...So lesson learned.
This is a new style for me so I think a second go on those outlines might give me some valuable practice before taking on the task of filling in the rest of the map. I plan on doing allot of mountains, especially in the bottom section towards the right hand corner and along the coast of the lower land mass, so hopefully I didn’t bite off more then I can chew. I may need to re evaluate my plan, I can get discouraged quickly if things are taking too long to finish, and I don’t want this to end up in my unfinished folder... like most of my work.
My favourite critic! For someone who doesn’t make maps you usually know what’s up, and I’m well aware of how picky you can be, so this comment made me feel better about things, I always appreciate you’re feed back. Getting the rest of the mountains in, shading, and rounding them out like you said will definitely take some time, it will probably be a month before I can post another update, so until then...
Still just plugin away at these mountain outlines, it's slow going as I'm not used to this style, so this is very much a practice piece for me. I wish I had more time, I tried doing some more jagged, and cliffy areas today... Let me know what you think.

You are really going the right way with this attempt, kacey. I wish you to reach your goal and finish this map. I have always the same feeling when a map turns to be to hard for my skills, so I try to lower my expectation and try to think about the next map .
Cheers.
Hey Kacey
I love the way you've varied the angle and given us degrees of mountain and precipice. Speaking as someone who is only just starting to learn about how to draw mountains this way, I've already discovered that trick as being one of the more difficult aspects.
Can't wait to see the shading
