Was wondering when we'd have a map based on an AI image, very interested to see how this turns out
December 2022 Challenge: The Last Sea
I was inspired by this Challenge when for fun I did a small test in AI for map making and it come out with something like this :

The prompt to generate this image was make a map in Tolkien style ... Well you can see the results ... but this somehow reminded me of a desert world with a Canyon as the last remnant of habitable place , so I thought about following this patter, if I will have time I will try to update this ...
Basically the idea is to make a whole desert ravaged apocalyptic world with a massive worldwide canyon that preserves life somehow .
I tried to extrapolate a name from the weird signs I see on that map.
Btw a mod can change the name in the title from Valley to Canyon?

Though I am not using ai to make a map , I am just using it as inspiration
Here is a very uninspiring Wip ... I am building the base to work on and I have used the above image as reference to create the canyon world ... Idea is a kind of fractured world canyon wide created by a massve meteoric strike that evolved the shape of the world breaking it up , sinking the oceans and so on...
Will see how it develops by doing .
Basically I used some cloud noise as base and the shape of the Ai generated image as overlay .

Not yet started with texturing but I almust finished creating the terrain elevation model and the sea .

Man! I would actually love to do realistic maps like that from time to time. It fits perfectly for certain situations.
It is coming along very nicely!
