Default May/June 2024 Challenge: Bay of Biscay

I thought I'd take a punt on this. Spoiler: I haven't gone out in a wee boat to survey the coastline or anything so I've just chosen an old map and traced it. It's circa 1750 I think. I just want to try something out using a very limited colour palette. I've chosen the green/blue one (#1 I think) and added one more colour to it - the parchment/background colour. I'm going to attempt to create a dithering effect using the two colours with the parchment as a background base colour. i.e. no colour, blue (water), green (land). I've greyscaled the border for now - I've used a plasma filter to try to make it a bit wishy-washy and I'll attempt to do some colour bleed as well. Anyway this is the starting point:

And here it is coloured in. Right now it's just the colours of the palette. A few labels, a compass rose, maybe a scale, and this would be a map. But this is gold medal territory so now Straf needs to do something a bit more out of his comfort zone. This amount of pigment? Really?

I'm struggling with this because GIMP and tablet support seems to be somewhat poor right now. Or for my tablet anyway. I'll see what I can finish.

Have you tried turning off Microsoft Ink? I have find that it can sometimes mess with tablet performance when using Gimp.

Yeah, I just get basic function with no pressure functions at all. I read somewhere that GTK+2 or whatever is broken and tablet functionality is limited and won't be fixed until GIMP 3.
