Help A map for a pen and paper RPG in progress : looking for help or benefit

    Hi,

I'm french, so please excuse my english mistakes.
I'm actually writing a pen and paper tabletop RPG called "chien de guerre" (dogs of war in english). It's a Dark Fantasy game where players incarnate mercenaries.
The main inspiration is the book "the black company" by Glen Cook.

I would like to draw a world map, but i'm totally unskilled, so i'm looking for a proficient cartographer.
I tried to hire MistyBeee but she wasn't available.

Could anyone here help me ?

    Thanks you very much,
    Alexandre alias Viandor

    Hi Viandor,

Your English is very good and definitely a lot better than my French!

This sounds interesting and I might be able to help out. You can check out some of my work here. And if you're interested can contact me on there or at gshipp [at] lostinmaps.co.uk

Some things to think about if you are commissioning someone would be the size you need, if you have a deadline, colour/sepia/B&W, copyright etc.

    Thanks,
    Greg

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for your reply ! I read english very well, by writing is really harder :-)
I've done my personal presentation here : https://www.cartographersguild.com/s...ad.php?t=46779

    For commissioning purpose :
    - Size : i don't know, either A4 (single page) or A3 (double page)
    - Color : black & white, the book won't include color
    - Deadline : none, it's not urgent
    - Theme : it's basically an european map, fantastic/medieval, the goal is to give players an easy environment to take in control, but a setting different enough to seem "imaginary"

I draw a global shape with nations names. I would like something less "european obvious".
    It's here, don't laught please ! ;-)

    Best regards,
    Viandor.

Hello, Viandor. I would be available for this commission, though, I do not speak French so you might want to consider one of the French-speaking artists here! There are several. Your english reads fine to me though, so it would not be a problem!

My custom fantasy maps. Let me know if you'd like to talk further.

    Best regards,
    Viandor.
That all sounds good and I'm sure many artists here will be interested in the project. Having a sketch to work from is always a great help and what you've got there is perfect as a base!

Generally artists don't really talk about prices and other details on the forums here, but as a rough price guideline, you're probably looking at anywhere from €75- €250 depending on whether A4 or A3 and who you ask. My price would fall well within those extremes and if that suits you, then as I said above, you can contact me at: gshipp@lostinmaps.co.uk where we can discuss more

    Hope to hear from you,
    Greg
