    Default The Land of Galintine

So every time I post something I think is finished someone tells me something that could make it better or points something out that I need to fix. If I wasn't a part of this forum I would consider this map finished but if anyone thinks of something that I could do to improve this map feel free to let me know.

    Ignore the second one.

I think it looks great. If there is one "bane" of a map maker it is dwelling overmuch on one's work. The Guild is full of wonderful inspiration and advice and everyone is always willing to help you make a better piece. In the end however it is YOUR map. If YOU like it and YOU feel that it is finished (or completed as we all know maps are NEVER finished ) If it conveys everything you wanted or needed it to then it is "completed" As I stated I think it is terrific !!

    What he said. ^

I think if I could change one thing about the map, it would be to add a subtle texture to the landmasses to give it some body. The colors look great, but since there's not an overwhelming amount of named features, the map seems a bit empty. A bit of texture might help.

What software did you use to do this project?

I agree with Jtougas and Diamond. And since you're asking... I would do something about the forests to make them more present (darkening a little the color maybe?). And what is Gulhal? A volcano? The blue cloud above it looks odd to me.

@jtougas: Thanks for the advise, I am very proud of this map. I just felt like people are less likely to give helpful advice if the map is already finished. I wanted to make sure everyone felt like they could give any and all advice they had, even if that advice is to be confident in my work. I'm also glad that you liked it!

@Diamond: Thanks! I will try a few different textures to see how I like them!

@waldronate: I used photoshop, but I made the frame and the compass rose in adobe illustrator.

@Ilanthar: I was thinking about giving the forest a subtle shadow, do you think that would help? Gulhal is a geyser. I made this map for my little brother and it's something he wanted in the map.

I added some textures but I don't know if I like it or not. I also added a shadow under the forest and I really like the way that looks, I changed a few other small things.

As do I. Subtle, doesn't overpower anything, just helps balance things out a bit. Nice.
