Wow GP. Thats a winner in my book. I love the shadows. The large beast shadow in the entrance chamber is my favourite feature. Excellent work.

Crypt of the Vampyr Queen, Katyana
I decided to post my Iron Crown Crypt Map contest entry here, calling it the final form. Of course, I have yet to place the required hex grid, but for purposes of using this in VT format, gridless is a better way to show it.
I created many of the elements, especially the entry way and the Vampyr's chamber in 3D using Nendo and Raydream Studio. The remainder was created in Xara Xtreme Pro, though I judiciously used elements from my August Challenge dungeon tiles and map object collection. The fallen debris, some of the coffins, corpses, etc.
The map measure 30 inches by 42 inches, at 100 ppi, 1.90 JPG.
Enjoy!
GP
PS: I know the directional shadows aren't ideal for a VT map, but since this map is intended for printing, I think shadows really help create a mood, that's why I chose to do it. Notice the demonic shadow in the front door and the vampiress in mist form exiting from her sarcophagus (just for extra fun!)
PPS: if you really want the gridded version in PDF format, you'll have to visit http://www.ironcrown.com main page, click on the Contests button, and visit the Crypt Map page, probably in a day or two, before its posted there.

Cool stuff GP, I'm with Torq the shadow at the entrance is a great touch.

I'm still stuck at the ideas stage, but this gives me an excellent target to shoot for. Good work GP.
Thanks Torq, SG, Torstan!
I was lost on what to do until last night. I went for the traditional term describing crypt which were underground structures placed beneath a cathedral, rather than family vault on private property. So it follows the structure above it.
I haven't decided whose shadow is at the entrance way, Katyana herself, one of her vampiric minions or a demon that protects/curses her tomb.
I'm throwing on the grid today, and ship this off to I.C.E.
Good luck everyone else - DevinNight included!

PS: I also enjoyed creating those labels.

So clear, clean and colorful...nice stuff. One thing about that shadow tho...it doesn't have any legs on the landing outside or on the steps.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

My initial thoughts were that I was trying to create an invisible demon whose shadow is still viewable, guarding/watching the entrance to the crypt. I thought about placing "leg shadows" from beyond the maps edge leading down the stairs, but I didn't do that.
I might change that. Still I like the idea of an enigmatic demon thing at the door that cannot truly be seen...
Thanks for the comments, Ascension!

Where did you get the tombstone of the knight in 16th c. armor? A nice touch!
