This is one of three illustrations I have just started. Together I am working on an overall world map, the city map of Green Farrow and this residential building.
Conceptually, Green Farrow is a halfling/hobbit town constructed in a motte and bailey style. The residents grow homes using espalier and topiary techniques to maximize the exterior space for cultivation. Not by magic or mechanic but understanding of nature have these people learned to coerce and shape nature to both feed and house them.
With a little fantasy these homes are composed of trees bent over to form a frame that supports thatched walls of edible vines and a canopy of fruits and nuts. Eight to twelve small beds encircle the living dome home. Cisterns and food cellars reside below the main floor.
Pics include the first rough sketch and a colorful top down.
Those who wrong no one, fear no one.
