Looks pretty cool so far, Jeska. Kind of reminds me of a fish silhouette. And nice work with the ocean texture; I like that a lot.
So, this was originally going to be a string of maybe five or six islands...
Desa is in a world with high levels of dangerous uncontrolled magic, and is positioned in the middle of a major ocean current, hence the smoother outer islands, and various odd geography.
I also had great fun playing with Prevana'Dei's ocean texture tutorial (https://www.cartographersguild.com/s...ad.php?t=32217)

Thanks
The tricky bit's going to be working out how to do the land. I don't want anything too busy, but just plain fill doesn't quite cut it. But then, I haven't added forests or rocky ground yet, so maybe it will work itself out.
What about adding a subtle texture to the land that you could set to Multiply or Overlay, so it doesn't distract too much?
@Ilanthar - I see what you mean. I've blurred the top right and bottom left a little. What do you think?
@Diamond - After messing around with the shallow water, then adding some terrain, the whole map ended up looking completely different. I think it works?
Also, map for inset month now actually has insets!

That does look pretty cool now. I think you're onto something...
I double Diamond, this is looking very cool! I really like the shallow waters and how you've done the terrain.
great start - and love the colors and the shape of the landmasses
