Thread: River city of Karkwald [commission]

Map River city of Karkwald [commission]

    The cities are getting larger
This one was done for a client who wanted a sort of victorian-era steampunk city.
The client wanted the city to have started as a walled, castle town with a cathedral.
Then to have grown larger and expanded from an old docks into a new docks area across the river.
I finally got to use that railroad brush I created a long while back.
I was considering developing it further, but time hasn't really allowed.

On a side note, I am enjoying the autumn weather change.
I've been getting some hiking in recently, which has been much needed.
Hope everyone is doing well. I'm off to work on another huge city map.

It looks really stunning. I love how "simple" () it is : just your amazing line work is enough, and amazing.
But most of all, I'm happy to read and see you're also taking time for yourself for once

Really great map! Top down maps always make me think I can do it, and then I try and rip up the paper the next day...

Yes, I need to take more time for non-work life... which i often don't.
I'm fighting some big deadlines right now.

    Thank you MMM
You can do it. It's a skill anyone can do.
My suggestion, how i started this, is to start with single buildings.
Do top down versions and get used to doing those.
Then add several buildings. Then add more.
It grows and you get used to doing more and more.

I saw this on FB and loved it there, but seeing it at a larger scale its even more handsome than I thought it was before

I very much admire your skill in drawing all these tiny little houses - each one as perfect and as carefully created as its neighbours!

Well, as your usual with your cities, it's fantastic (I would love to see a colored version... but I know what you mean about not having enough time!!).
