Thread: Hi from Texas

    Default Hi from Texas

Don't take that title too seriously. I'm in Texas for grad school, but I'm originally from Portland, Oregon. I study fisheries ecology, and maps in some form have been a hobby of mine since I was a kid. Most of them were hand drawn and fairly basic, but I've spent the last few months learning to use GIMP to draw battlemaps, dungeonmaps, and regional maps. My current project is mapping and fleshing out a small island off the Sword Coast, both for use in my D&D 5e campaign and just because it's a fun area to map with a nice array of settlements of varying sizes. You can see my most recent map (as of yesterday) here.

Hello nogoodnames01, Welcome to the Guild!

T\ere is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276 that you might find useful.

From there, you could also go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

I'll look forward to seeing more from you
