WWII area map

Hello, first post.

We are in the process of desgning a WWII wargame. Board game first, then portable to computer. We have determined we will use areas as opposed to hexes. Goal one for the map design portion is to find a dowloadable map of WWII Europe we can start to develop the scale to support a corps/army level game. End goal will be a playable map, not a perfect scale. i.e. Norway will be one area. Sweden etc. Mainland Europe and USSR will be much more scaled.

The reason for a downlaodable map to play with is we expect to do lots of iterations with pencil prior to sending out for design.

I'd really appreciate thoughts and ideas on this process. Also, a rough idea of the actual cost for the map creation once we have set the parameters would be welcome.

You should look at Sapiento's work. He used to do a lot of 'Risk' based maps.
