Wip A City by The Sea

This is what I'm currently working on, and it has taken embarrassingly long to do… 😅 Every detail is hand-drawn, so it's a far bigger undertaking than I had anticipated, but I feel like I'm making good progress.

    Here's the line sketch.

    And here's the current progress.

I took some architectural cues from the Mediterranean and Ancient Greek and Roman architecture, but I tried to have a somewhat unique approach. The city is supposed to be from a pre-modern era. I'm still figuring out the fine details of what that means, and any unique features it'll have. It currently looks very empty, but I'll include people, animals, and general signs of life to it.

The art style is a progression of my stubborn desire to have a clean and lineless look. Myself, I like how it's turning out, but I'd love to hear your thoughts! And your thoughts and critique on anything else, too.

Fantastic work ! I love the whole layout... and I admire your comitment for the lineless look. I think it's hard to achieve and ask a lot of work but I'm confident you'll achieve that !
For now, I find it nice and beautiful for the houses and walls, but the cliffs and forests demand for details (it's just my opinion)
Looking forward to see the next step !

    Thanks for your kind words!

And you're right, the cliffs, forests, and also the river and sea haven't gotten much of my attention yet (or the crops/fields inside the city). I've got an idea of what I'd want the cliffs specifically to look like, but I haven't yet figured out how to achieve that.
