Welcome to the guild.
Many times in my life I've made lots of maps in my spare time... but I've never gone beyond the simple islands, mountains and trees...
Hopefully, being in this community I'll be able to finally finish a full-color map I've always dreamed off.
I can show you the Inkscape image of the sketched-out world map I've made. I'll be basing all of my projects of map-making on this single sketch (since world-maps are BIG, and would normally have lots of smaller continental maps, so there's a lot to work on on my single world).
Could anyone point me out to some tutorials in using Inkscape? I'm using a laptop that uses either a mouse or it's built-in heat-sensor touch-pad.

Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to work I go..
Welcome to the Guild! I'm not immediately aware of a lot of Inkscape-specific tutorials but hopefully someone else can point out a couple. I use Illustrator, and that only occasionally for something specific (building outlines, labeling a map made in PS, etc.), so I don't have a great deal of experience in creating maps in it from start to finish...but I know there are a few vector masters hiding out on here somewhere. Looking forward to seeing your maps.

Welcome, whilst I dont know of any specific Inkscape tuts as I am not a regular inkscape user if you look in my sig or use the quick links menu there is a keyword index where you can find inkscape in the list of apps and lots of posts there about it from many guild users of it. Ravells and RobA are both very good with it and there has been numerous other people who make great maps with it.
